Caros leitores acabei há alguns minutos atrás de ver o novo filme do Steven Seagal: Against the Dark. É um filme que se destaca da sua filmografia porque, contrariamente ao usual Steven Seagal não enfrenta terroristas, assassinos em série, mafiosos, membros da indústria petrolífera, etc. Enfim, ele não enfrenta humanos normais, neste caso Steven Seagal enfrenta seres sobre- ou sub-humanos, dependendo do ponto de vista.
Trata-se de mais um filme em que ele é o herói completamente misterioso e capaz de matar tudo o que mexe por rapidez de movimento de braços.
O Argumento
A história começa alguns meses depois do aparecimento de um vírus que infectou grande parte da população transformando-os em seres que têm um apetite por carne e sangue humanos e que são nocturnos. Lembra-vos de alguma coisa? O I Am Legend tinha monstros semelhantes mas a semelhança não pára por aqui, como eu explicarei mais tarde.
Steven Seagal faz parte de um grupo de humanos que entra em áreas cheias de seres infectados e os matam com uma combinação de facas, espadas, armas de fogo e porrada. Basicamente todo o papel dele se resume a isso. Por isso é que a sua personagem não tem qualquer tipo de desenvolvimento ou sequer muitas falas. De facto ele é o herói mas nem de perto nem de longe a personagem principal da história.
As personagens principais são dois grupos de sobreviventes que tentam sair de um hospital para ir buscar um carro. Como sobreviveram até aqui é uma incógnita pois ninguém tem 2 dedos de testa. Um dos grupos de sobreviventes diz que está à 2 meses no hospital a sobreviver porque aquilo é um local seguro. Assim que se afastam um corredor da sua localização vêem-se provas de mutilações recentes, centenas de vampiros, tudo a ocupar o mesmo edíficio que eles a distância relativamente pequenas. Não teriam ouvido os barulhos das outras pessoas a morrerem? O outro grupo é ainda mais idiota, entram por uma janela do hospital, assim que decidem ir buscar o carro ninguém se lembra de sair novamente pela janela. Decidem ir por dentro do hospital cheio de vampiros. Ninguém tem armas, nem me refiro a armas de fogo mas num futuro pós-apocalíptico cheio de monstros a mim ninguém me apanhava sem um pau, bastão, faca, etc. O objectivo é sobreviver não é ser presa fácil. Se os monstros estão mais activos à noite porquê dormir de noite em edíficios cheios de monstros sem sequer deixar ninguém de vigia? Esta e mais umas quantas questões nunca são respondidas mas o que é certo é que nunca irei descobrir como os sobreviventes duraram tanto tempo.
Mas vamos às outras semelhanças com o I Am Legend, não estou agora a falar do filme homónimo do Will Smith(que muito sinceramente fica muito àquem da história que lhe deu origem) mas sim do livro. Os vampiros começam a evoluir até ficarem quase humanos e perderem a necessidade de sangue de maneira a que os monstros passam a ser os humanos porque querem matar os vampiros. E aqui está um ponto que um agumentista com dois dedos de testa saberia aproveitar. Não o fez o argumentista do I Am Legend perdendo a história muito do seu impacto e não o fez o argumentista deste Against the Dark apesar de o poder ter feito em muitas ocasiões.
A não perder
1- As primeiras falas do Steven Seagal não fazem muito sentido. Parecem ter sido editadas sem ligarem muito à lógica do diálogo
2 - O Tenente do exército mais tarde é tratado por Coronel (para quem não sabe isso equivale a 4 promoções) no espaço de 3 horas
3 - As caçadoras que não têm falas e praticamente nenhuma acção
4 - Não há cura mas há pessoas imunes(apesar de no início do filme a narradora dizer que não existe imunidade)
5 - Se o exército funciona porquê mandar caçadores quando podem bombardear tudo?
6 - Usarem o caminho mais longo e cheio de perigos possível em vez de irem pela janela
7 - A miúda sofre de pneumonia mas nem sequer um espirro ou tosse manda
8 - Se o hospital só tem aquela saída por baixo por onde é que os Caçadores entraram?
9 - Ninguém, à excepção dos caçadores sente a necessidade de ter uma arma para se proteger
10 - A morte inglória e fora de camara de uma das caçadoras
11 - A falta de uma história, pathos, motivação da personagem de Steven Seagal
12 - Num edíficio cheio de perigos conversar alto, fazer barulho, não vigiar os corredores parece aumentar as hipóteses de sobrevivencia
13 - Acabou de morrer gente, os vampiros estão em todo o lado mas duas personagens acham ser a altura certa para dormirem

Conclusão
É um filme tão mau e estúpido que merece ser visto, especialmente com um grupo de amigos porque não vão parar de se rir com tudo o que acontece. Foi o filme ideal para ver hoje à tarde.
